About US
Our History
Shalom Centre was established in July 2005 with
Registration Number 00NGO/0878. Located in
Lesiraa village, Kisongo ward in the Arumeru
District of the Arusha Region, our organization
is dedicated to addressing issues of violence
against children, gender-based violence,
and preventing harmful cultural practices
that affect children, particularly within
pastoralist communities.
Our Work
Shalom Centre works towards its vision
through a variety of programs that support
children and their families. These include Family
Reunification and Reintegration, where we help reunite
children with their families when it is safe to do so
and provide ongoing support to ensure successful
reintegration; Education for Child Mothers,
offering opportunities for child mothers to return
to school and complete their secondary education;
Early Childhood Development services for children
aged 3-5 years from pastoralist communities;
Vocational and Life Skills Training, equipping
children and youth with valuable skills like soap
making, basket weaving, embroidery, gardening, and
financial literacy; Community Outreach to raise
awareness about child protection issues and
advocate for change within the community; and our
Rescue Centre/Safe Home, which provides a safe haven
for the most vulnerable children, offering shelter,
food, hygiene support, psychosocial counseling, and
educational opportunities.
Our Impact
Shalom Centre has made a
significant impact on the lives of
children in the Arusha Region. By providing
vital services and advocating for change,
we are helping to create a safer and more
nurturing environment for all children.
